Marianne d'Or
MARIANNE D'OR COMPETITION: TWO AWARDS FOR SAINT-AVOLD!
WHAT IS IT?
Saint-Avold town council has twice been awarded the Marianne d'Or. The Marianne d'Or competition was created in 1984 by Alain TRAMPOGLIERI, with the aim of "publicizing and sharing the best practices achieved by local authorities". Each year, the competition recognizes the innovative actions undertaken by local authorities in their areas of competence, and rewards "the dedication, rigor and creativity of local policies implemented by elected representatives and local civil servants".
A FIRST AWARD IN 2010
The Marianne d'or diploma was awarded to the Mayor of Saint-Avold in recognition of work carried out in favor of sustainable development and the environment. Particular attention was paid to the city's eco-mobility. In fact, three major projects took shape:
- The creation of "La maison de la mobilité", offering mobility services such as TER ticket sales, cab connections, electric bike rental and individualized advice for individuals and professionals,
- The acquisition of new biofuel-powered buses that emit less than 40% of CO2,
- The introduction of the "Urban Travel Plan" for the city's employees, which limits their travel (50% bus pass, priority parking for carpoolers, electric bikes, etc.).
Secondly, our efforts in terms of flowering and differentiated management of green spaces were rewarded, with the use of regional plant species, a contribution to the preservation of biodiversity and limited use of pesticides and phytosanitary products.
A SECOND AWARD IN 2014
The town'ssocial economy initiatives have been rewarded, with the creation of a low-cost social grocery store, a shared vegetable garden created by young people, and a mobility platform to facilitate travel.
