Municipal Archives

The history of Saint-Avold's archives is closely linked to the city's prestigious past. Empowered by a succession of charters as early as the 14th century, the town council recognized the importance of these legal instruments in defending the interests of the bourgeoisie. It entrusted their management to an alderman.
