THE MUNICIPAL YOUTH COUNCIL: YOUNG PEOPLE SPEAK!

2. -Promote notions of rights and duties,
3. -Involve young people in social and civic life,
4. -Involve young people in community projects,
5. -Enable young people to express themselves
These young elected representatives represent the youth of Saint-Avold and speak up for their school and neighborhood. They are elected for a two-year term.
The role of municipal councillor enables them to put forward new ideas, propose projects for the commune and make their own contributions to a wide range of projects.
Various themes are addressed during their term of office: the environment, living conditions, entertainment, sport, leisure and culture, social life, safety, road safety and new technologies.
HOW CMJ WORKS
The Municipal Youth Council is made up of a maximum of 27 members elected for two years, including a Chairman and three Vice-Chairmen who form the "bureau".
At the start of their term of office, municipal councillors are divided into working committees to prepare and study their projects.
There are 4 working committees which meet at least twice a year:
- Sports, culture and leisure,
- Solidarity, citizenship and collective memory,
- Communication and new technologies,
- Prevention, education and career guidance.
Once the commission projects have been determined, the councillors all meet in session to vote and definitively validate the projects to be carried out. They are then submitted to the town's elected representatives for final approval.
Voted projects are implemented by the City's Vie Associative department, in collaboration with City departments and local players. Young municipal councillors are invited to get involved in their organization.
