WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

Certified copies of documents are required exclusively by foreign authorities. Any copy of an original French document to be sent to a foreign administration must be certified. 

HOW TO PROCEED?

To have a true copy of a document certified, you need to contact the French administration, i.e. your local town hall or prefecture. The original document must also be presented.

Worth knowing:

Copies of French documents that need to be sent to a French administration for administrative purposes do not need to be certified.
