RISK PREVENTION FOR ELECTRIC SCOOTERS AND MOTORIZED PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION DEVICES (EDPM)

Your Municipal Police would like to inform you that it plays a vital role in preventing risks associated with the use of electric scooters and Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs).

In response to the growing popularity of this mode of transportation in urban areas, its initiatives aim to raise awareness among users about traffic rules and promote the safe sharing of public space.

Officers regularly conduct prevention campaigns among residents, particularly young people, to remind them of best practices:

  • Compliance with the Traffic Code
  •  Traffic on Authorized Lanes
  •  Speed limit, caution around pedestrians, and no passengers allowed
  •  They also emphasize the importance of wearing protective gear, particularly a helmet, as well as using properly equipped, code-compliant equipment (lights, reflective devices, an audible warning device, and a braking system).

These awareness-raising initiatives are often organized in partnership with schools, organizations, and various road safety stakeholders. They may take the form of educational workshops, hands-on demonstrations, or information campaigns designed to remind people of their legal obligations and the importance of responsible behavior.

In addition to this preventive role, your Municipal Police conduct patrols on public roads to ensure compliance with regulations. These efforts help combat dangerous behaviors, such as riding on sidewalks where it is prohibited, speeding, using a cell phone while driving, or carrying more than one person on a single scooter.

Through its day-to-day work, the Municipal Police helps reduce the risk of accidents, protect the most vulnerable road users, and promote harmonious coexistence among different modes of transportation.

The Municipal Police's crackdown on electric scooters is aimed at ensuring public safety.

A prevention campaign has been carried out for this purpose among road users; from now on, violations of traffic regulations will be penalized, as they constitute a traffic violation.
